Our podiatrists are HPC Registered
What is the HPC? The Health Professions Council is a UK-wide regulator and our role is to protect the public.
The HPC currently registers over 180,000 health professionals from 13 different professions. They only register professionals who meet their standards for professional skills, behaviour and health and they can take action against health professionals who fall below
these standards or who use a protected title illegally.
Our practices are accredited
What does it mean? For our practice to have been accredited by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists we have reviewed our standards to ensure that they comply with national standards and best practice within the profession.
We applied for practice accreditation so that our patients know that their care is being provided within a safe environment.

Pamela
We have grown from a sole practitioner - Pamela Martin - to a team of five podiatrists, one complimentary therapist and two secretaries.
We strive to keep abreast of the most recent developments in podiatry to ensure that we provide the best care. All of our podiatrists maintain a CPD portfolio and regularly attend postgraduate courses to ensure our treatments are evidence-based.
When appropriate, we have referral pathways in place should we need to refer patients to other disciplines eg physiotherapy to enhance recovery.

What we do
LiquiHeel heel treatment LiquiHeel heel treatment
For many, this is a commonly occurring condition particularly in the spring and summer months, so if you suffer, you are not alone.
There are treatments available using various lotions and creams along with strapping techniques - none of these provide a comprehensive solution to the problem.
Now your local Podiatrist/Chiropodist at Instep Podiatry can. Using a specially formulated medical adhesive called LiquiHeel™ successful treatments have been carried out in conjunction with the University of Southampton that provide instant pain relief and effective and long lasting fissure closure.
£35 (full routine treatment along with
one application of LiquiHeel)
Routine footcare Routine foot care
Includes an initial assessment of your foot structure and identifies any parts of the feet which may become problematic.
All nails are tidied and shaped with any nail problems such as thickened, discoloured or ingrown nails treated. Any hard skin will be gently reduced and corns removed. Advice will be given on how to prevent future problems.
You will be advised as to whether routine footcare is the best treatment plan for your feet.

Verruca Verruca
Verrucae are one of the most common foot problems among children and adults. In all cases, it is necessary to attend for an initial consultation where the severity of the verrucae are assessed to determine the most appropriate treatment.
You will then be advised as to whether a course of treatments would help in reducing the verrucae. If this is the case, most patients attend on a weekly-fortnightly basis to ensure effective results from the treatment.

Biomechanical assessment Biomechanical assessment
Podiatrists are trained to examine the lower limb to assess whether the position of the feet is causing an alignment problem within the body.
Do you suffer from any of the problems shown? Do you know that the way in which you are walking could be to blame?
Biomechanics describes the way in which the skeleton is aligned and what effect it has on the surrounding soft tissues such as ligaments, tendons, and muscles.
A biomechanical assessment involves testing the range of motion of all the joints in the lower limb. It also includes a gait analysis to examine the way in which the feet contact the ground.
Once measurements have been taken, you will be advised as to whether orthotics would help your problem.
3D foot scan 3D foot scanning
Following your biomechanical assessment, 3D scans will be taken of your feet. On analysing the images, we are able to determine the areas that require correction and the computer software allows us to have complete control in the design of the orthotics.
The digitised images are then e-mailed to our laboratory for manufacture of your orthotics. The end result is more comfortable, effective, durable and accurate orthotics
Orthotics Orthotics
The clinic is able to offer a wide variety of orthotics and you will be given options and costs depending upon which type of device is suitable for your condition/problem.
Nail surgery Nail surgery
In some cases, attempts to resolve 'ingrown' toenails are not successful ie if the nail bed has been damaged or if your nail is shaped wrongly. Therefore you may be advised that nail surgery is necessary to resolve your nail problem.
This is a short procedure using a local anaesthetic and you will be advised as to whether you require the whole or part of the nail removed. Following surgery, patients are required to attend for dressing appointments.

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, it is possible that you could develop complications in your feet. We carry out checks to reduce the risk of these complications by assessing your foot health eg blood supply, sensation, and deformity. You will be given advice on daily foot care to further reduce the risk of problems arising.

Electrosurgery Electrosurgery
We offer an advanced
method of treating
persistent corns and
verrucae if
conventional
treatments have
not been successful.
The procedure involves a local anaesthetic which allows the use an electrical probe to dry out the verruca or corn. This means that we can remove the lesion more easily and more effectively.
Please read our advice sheet above for more information. If you would like to discuss this option further, please call us to to arrange an initial routine footcare appointment where your podiatrist can examine the lesion and go through the procedure in more detail.

FEET FOR LIFE
PUT THE RIGHT FOOT FORWARD
TO PREVENT AND TREAT ARTHRITIS
Hidden away in socks and shoes at the end of our bodies, our feet can often be neglected and our foot health overlooked. As part of the annual Feet for Life Month in June, The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists is raising awareness of all aspects of foot care and foot health, with a specific focus this year on arthritis. Arthritis is often associated with older age, and while you are more likely to develop arthritis as you get older, it can occur at any age and usually develops between the ages of 20 and 50.
At Instep Podiatry, we are offering a FREE foot check during the week beginning 27th June. For further information, please contact your local clinic.
